Skagen & Seaside Denmark immersion

Seaside immersion will take you to the location that inspired this painting. The visit is priceless but the actual painting by Michael Anker sold at auction last year for $800,000.

It is the depiction by Michael Asker of two women at sunset enjoying a walk on the beach in Skagen. Imagine yourself in this setting. Join us for our Seaside Hygge immersion June 20-27 and you will be able to go for a stroll at the same location and experience the very special light that is captured in this work of art. There will also be the opportunity to see other paintings inspired by artists who visited Skagen, Denmark.

Contact me, Louis@dessauinternational.com to reserve your space. Only 8 people will be able to enjoy this unique immersion in Denmark. Will need to arrange air travel and deposits early April!

“Seaside Hygge” Immersion

We are not Tauck promoting “Travel beyond ordinary” we are not Viking River Voyages and we are not Road Scholar. We are unique providing a destination immersion to Denmark with no more than 8 people for a period no longer than 7 days. Seaside Hygge is a unique immersion that will take place June 20-27. Rather than start in Copenhagen, participants will journey to Skagen and experience a Danish holiday celebration, Sankt Hans, with bonfires on the beach.

Initial air travel will be to Aalborg, home of the popular Danish Akvavit!

Seaside Hygge is inspired by the Danish TV Series “Badehotellet” broadcast in the US by PBS as “Seaside Hotel”. Location of the actual hotel is near Skagen and a benefit of this immersion will be the opportunity to visit it either for a lunch or afternoon tea!

Northern Jutland was also the setting for the 1987 movie “Babette’s feast”. An important aspect of the immersion will be getting a taste of Denmark. In addition to delicious meals participants will also enjoy authentic Danish pastries.

Visiting museums of art in Skagen will provide insight as to the art and culture of the Danish seaside. Next on immersion itinerary will be a train to Copenhagen with a stop for lunch at the Hans Christian Andersen museum in Odense.

No visit to Denmark would be complete without a photo opportunity with the Little Mermaid statue or some time spent at Tivoli Gardens. Both add value to the immersion!

The journey to and from Denmark is planned to be on Scandinavian Airlines to provide participants an introduction to the Danish culture while crossing the Atlantic. SAS is now a Sky Team partner and offers flights from Atlanta direct to Copenhagen.

New “Seaside Hygge” Denmark Immersion

Have you seen any episodes of “Seaside Hotel” on ETV locally or PBS nationally? Would you like to visit the actual location this summer? Thrilled to share that we have designed an immersion to Denmark that will include a visit to the actual Seaside Hotel!

Maybe you have not seen that series but you remember the movie “Babette’s Feast”. It too takes place in the same part of Denmark. This immersion takes place June 20-27.

Skagen, Denmark during the weekend of Sankt Hans when per tradition there are bonfires on the beach is a unique type of “Hygge” participants will experience.

In addition to museums such as where the painting by Kroyer of Sankt Hans is displayed, there will be time to appreciate the sea side as well as splendid food.
